WHAT IS A MINISTRY RESIDENCY?

EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE - REAL LIFE

This is a 2-year post at Life Community Church directed by the NextGen Pastor. While in this post, you will have opportunities to rotate through serving with elementary, middle school and high school ministries in the church. The residency leans heavily towards NextGen ministry, but is designed to give opportunities in many areas of ministry. While programming and oversight are provided, it is assumed that very early in the residency each resident will become self-directed in their area and will fully participate in the mission of the church in discipling young people. You'll hang out with kids A LOT, and get loads of experience along the way.

NEXT STEPS

What we won't do is try to sell you on this, but we will invite you to pray and listen to the Spirit because we think when the right person for the role reads about who we are and what we're like they'll know and we can't wait to talk to you.

We'd love to continue the conversation with you whether you're interested in becoming our next Ministry Resident or know someone who would be a great fit.

I'M INTERESTED

I KNOW SOMEONE WHO WOULD BE A GREAT FIT

OUR TEAM

We're 10 of the greatest people to work with. There's no hype in that statement because it's not of our own doing. Every time I (J.R.) think about what we have together, the way we work, love, laugh, grieve, and lead together... it's a good gift from a Good Father.

WE ARE:

easy going, hyper focused on people, driven to disciple and love well, okay with prefer the smaller version if available, in love with Jesus, believe mental health is a real thing, learning to live in what He says is reality, okay with stopping and resting, team lead, think ordinary is actually pretty great.

WE ARE NOT:

fancy, overly produced, trendy, gimmicky, in love with a crowd, skinny jeans (I mean that's cool if you're into that - I wouldn't know what's cool and not anyway), in a hurry, celebrity culture, burnt-out (usually).

WHAT WE WANT

WHEN IT COMES TO NEXTGEN

We think with the End-In-Mind -- in other words what do we want to be true when a kid starts adulting:

  • Discovering and understanding the scripture narrative (God’s big story). [KNOW]
  • Understand what it means to do life WITH Jesus and discovering their life has been/is being transformed by the work of God living in them. [BE]. Breaking down the sacred/secular divides we often create.
  • Living out life with God...
  • in the context of community, allowing other voices to speak in [BE]
  • In the context of living outward/on-mission [DO]

WHAT WE VALUE

WHEN IT COMES TO NEXTGEN

Other things we value:

  • Parents. We think parents are the chief disciplers. In all of our doing we aim to come alongside parents, equipping them and offering additional voices in their and their child’s life.
  • Together. We think body life matters and the more we can span generations in discipleship, the better.
  • Small. We prioritize anything you can do small and think what comes out of that has a higher chance of being real. We think small lends itself to better relationships, better authenticity, and better repeatable discipleship.
  • Less. We do less “stuff” in order to be laser focused on the above on what we value. And to free families to ask God’s Spirit what He’s calling them toward and to lean into that call.
  • Rest.
